Tom Seif is a health physicist with the Illinois Emergency Management Agency, Bureau of Nuclear Facility Safety. In addition to preparing state and local personnel to respond to an event at any of the 11 operating commercial nuclear reactors in the state, Mr. Seif is the program manager for the statewide Preventive Radiological/Nuclear Detection Program, and the Illinois liaison to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Domestic Nuclear Detection Office.

His other duties include state and federal homeland security initiatives, training local authorities to respond to any type of radiological accident, and assisting with special event protection details and responder training throughout the United States.
